Gettin back on track
Yesterday I got out of work and went to the rec. I lucked out with my timing as I only had to wait 2-3 min. for a machine. Sometimes I just don’t get how a huge school can have so many students and only 50 machines. There was 5-6 people waiting after I was on for about 5 minutes. I went on for 45 minutes and did 3.8 miles. I would have gone until 4, but there was so many ppl waiting I felt bad and got off a machine. Hopefully this isn’t going to be like this for the whole semester. I’m kinda regretting getting a membership at the rec. I didn’t realize they don’t have weights (or free weights) and no matts around so I can do my crunches. I have hardwood floors at home, so it looks like I may have to purchase one! I’m trying to get fit before Phoenix so I won’t pass out on Heather when we go hiking.
Anyway, than I was off to my first class of Piano. The minute I walked in the building it felt like i was home again. With choirs in the background and a room full of musicians playing a piece, ahhhh. It was like being back in high school band. Then I get to the room full of pianos (of course electronic, which I’m not a big fan of–you just don’t get the “feel” of a piano). The instructor is teaching his first class. I should have just said I”ve never touched a piano before, but no, I had to tell him I played for 12 years and quit out of frustration of having to compete so much, that I walked away from it all and now i’m a little rusty and just trying to get back on the bike. So now he wants me to play/practice things that I use to play. *sigh*. All of that stuff is back at home with Mom. I’m not in the class to “show off” i’m in there because I have completely icky when it comes to reading my bass notes and I just want to re-learn it all. Not show off my talent and “jam” to Amazing Grace as everyone in the class plays it with one note, and he wants the ones who know how to play to “improv” to it. Thats not what I’m there. I want to stick with this but I’m afraid I may have to drop. He was not aware you could practice at the school, and I have no access to a keyboard :(. Hopefully Amy has a solution since she took the class and I don’t think owns a keyboard… more updates to come.
Last night we watched how a man discovered the secret of the game show “Press your luck” and walked away with over $100,000. He had figured out the two squares that never got a whammy .. It was very very good, and highly recommended if you are watching TV one night and tune into the Game Show network!
